Digital divide in Fourways
All areas have a digital divide which has been growing overtime due to technological advances.
Digital divide is defined as the gap or divide between those who have access to the internet and computers in comparison to those who do not.
I Believe with the fast growing rate of the internet and technology as a whole it is creating a wider gap between those who have access and those who don’t not , therefore emphasizing on the digital divide. Technology helps to improve education systems and even admin systems. This overall helps business to keep up with the technological advances as well as it helps students to learn the way of the future
Fourways is a large technological operated area. They have fiber optics and wires inserted in most areas and complex’s as well as they have various different ways of accessing technology.
Technology can be accessed and understood at a young age.
According to Burrows (2019) Information and communication technology (ICT) is a key factors in most homes and businesses. This helps to think in innovative ways and helps for the younger generations to adapt quickly as they have been introduced to technology.
This allows for those with access to the internet and computers to have a greater advantage in comparisons to those who do not have.
Although Fourways is a large area it had various parts that do not necessarily have the access they could have to internet. This is due to things such as Eskom power outages and the cost of internet and fiber within the area
This creates a divide in the education systems And the way certain business are run.
This digital divide is difficult to correct without the correct control measures in place and although it can be fixed it needs a lot of attention and action in order to make it successful
